What Ziva collects when you log meals, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.

Last updated October 2026 Ziva is operated by TM Code & Co LLC.

1 Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, including your email address, display name, meal logging data, nutrition goals, and any other health-related information you choose to provide. We also collect usage data to improve the service.

2 How we use your information

Your information is used to provide and improve the Ziva service, including displaying your nutrition data, personalizing your experience, and maintaining your account.

3 Consumer health data and state privacy rights

Meal and nutrition information may be considered consumer health data under certain U.S. state laws. Where applicable, we process this data with consent, use it only for permitted purposes, and honor applicable rights requests, including access, deletion, withdrawal of consent, and appeal rights where required by law.

4 Data storage and security

Your meal and nutrition data is stored securely in our database. We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information.

5 Data retention

We keep your account information, meal logs, saved meals and recipes, and nutrition summaries for as long as your account is active, so your history stays available to you. You can delete individual meals and saved items at any time. If you ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected], we will delete your profile and this data within 30 days, except for information we are required to keep to meet legal obligations. Deleted data may remain in database backups until those backups expire on their regular schedule.

6 Third-party services

Ziva integrates with AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude) via MCP for food logging. When you use these integrations, your meal descriptions are processed by these services according to their respective privacy policies.

7 Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run Ziva, subject to confidentiality obligations: cloud hosting and database storage (Microsoft Azure), email delivery (Loops), which receives your email address and the nutrition totals in your daily summary emails, and sign-in (Google), when you choose to sign in with Google.

8 HIPAA status

Ziva is not a healthcare provider, health plan, or healthcare clearinghouse. Unless explicitly stated in a separate written agreement, Ziva does not act as a HIPAA business associate, and information you submit to Ziva may not be protected health information under HIPAA.

9 Security incidents and breach notification

If we determine that unauthorized acquisition of your personal or consumer health data has occurred, we will provide notifications required by applicable law, including notices to affected users and regulators where required.

10 Your rights

You can update your profile and nutrition goals on the settings page, and you can delete individual meals and saved items at any time. To get a copy of your data or to delete your account, email [email protected].
